Every 6-8 six weeks, I do one of these big Bangers & Jams roundups of my favorite things for paid subscribers. Usually it’s full of my standout dishes and dining trends, with a little music and culture stuff mixed in. (You can find the pseudo-explanation of a banger vs. a jam here). The conceit is the original, Machine-In-The-Garden-adjacent reason for starting this blog in the first place. I didn’t really want to write regularly (whoops), but I could easily make lists and cast light judgment.
Two months ago, during the last iteration of this roundup, I was struggling to find that many dining developments to get excited about. That’s not the case this time around. In bouncing from coast to coast — mostly LA, New York, DC and SF — I’ve found myself impressed by cool shit happening every week. I even cut about 20 items from the long list. (You’re welcome, Graydon). It’s gonna be a good food summer. Let’s get into it.
